Find the network address, broadcast address, usable hosts and masks for an IPv4 subnet.

How the calculation works

Enter an IPv4 address and choose the subnet mask. The calculator applies the mask to find the network and broadcast addresses and the usable host range.

Formula used

Network = IP AND mask; Broadcast = Network OR wildcard; Usable hosts = 2^(32 − prefix) − 2

Example

192.168.1.10 with a /24 mask is in network 192.168.1.0, with hosts 192.168.1.1 to 192.168.1.254 (254 usable hosts).

Frequently asked questions

What does /24 mean?

The first 24 bits are the network part, so the mask is 255.255.255.0.

Why subtract 2 hosts?

The first address is the network and the last is the broadcast address.
