Find your monthly payment for a fixed term, or find how long it takes to pay off a loan with a fixed payment.
Formula used
Payment = P × r × (1 + r)ⁿ ÷ ((1 + r)ⁿ − 1); Months = −ln(1 − P × r ÷ Payment) ÷ ln(1 + r)
Example
A $20,000 loan at 7% paid at $500 a month takes 46 months (3 years 10 months) and costs $2,841.23 in interest.
Frequently asked questions
Why does my payment need to be bigger than the interest?
If the payment only covers interest, the balance never falls, so the loan is never paid off.
Does it include fees?
No. Add fees to the loan amount if they are financed.
